Ascension Day Worship Service

Thursday, May 9, 2024, 7:00 p.m.

It has been the tradition at St. Richard's to celebrate the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ with an evening service. Join us!

Book Club

You are invited to join us for an unforgettable journey into the life and teachings of Francis and Clare of Assisi. During our stay, we will be welcomed by the Franciscan Sisters of St Elisabeth at the beautiful Casa del Terziario in the heart of historic Assisi. The trip will be with the Third Order of the Society of St. Francis. It is open to everyone and one does not have to be a Franciscan to attend. We will be staying in a retreat house operated by a Franciscan
order, Saint Elizabeth’s House. You can see the house at the following link (there is an English translation for the page on the upper right corner).

A group from Central Florida will probably travel together from MCO so if you are interested, please let Father Harry Coverston know. You will need to arrange your own tickets to Assisi, but the group will go together to the airports in Rome and catch the trains to Assisi that day and return the same way.
Click here to download the flyer for the trip.Jim Wallis is Georgetown University’s inaugural holder of the Archbishop Demond Tutu Chair in Faith and Justice and director of its Center on Faith and Justice. He has written multiple New York Times best-selling books.

This book sounds the alarm arguing that the rise of white Christian nationalism is not just another symptom of partisan conflict but a false white gospel that threatens to destroy both democracy and the integrity of white churches.

Wallis turns our attention to six iconic texts at the heart of what genuine biblical faith means and what Jesus, in the gospels, has called us to do. Learning to practice the politics of loving our neighbor will be central to the future of democracy in America.

Informal Book Study

Wednesday’s from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Dates: April 24th to June 12th (or earlier if we finish the book)

We will be meeting on Wednesdays in the St. Richard’s room directly following Bible Study and before the Healing Service. You are welcome to come even if you haven’t purchased the book or if you only can attend some of the sessions.

place central to the movement and the places in Birmingham where the
civil rights movement gained national attention.
